Add Handwritten Notes and Measurements to Jobs

I think a useful feature would be to add files with notes and measurements to a job, so that information is stored with the job. It may seem trivial, but when I travel I may want to complete a bid, but some of the notes are still at my desk in my office.

If I could simply create an elevation(s) that only allowed an upload of an image or .pdf, then my notes could travel and always be with that current bid. I could even share it amongst my estimators easily.

Even a simple embedded link to a cloud service of my choosing would suffice and be very efficient without calling for a lot of revised coding. Imagine an actual photo (when warranted) of the elevations for reference and the associated measurements for those elevations. Very useful.

Add a Separation Beam Between Upper and Lower Frames within the Same Elevation

There are numerous times where a set of plans will combine upper and lower elevations into one elevation. I can account for both sets of frames by creating an elevation for lower and upper frames in 2 separate drawings, but sometimes this is misleading to the client and calls for explanations through annotations or email.

If I try to depict the both upper and lower in one elevation, it will only allow for an alternate intermediate horizontal (with altered profile) and does not account for the correct members. For example, when this happens the lower frame will be missing a true head and the upper will be missing a true sill.

An easy suggestion is to add something similar to bulkhead, but could be called a 'beam' and thus when entered, will automatically place the head member below the beam and a sill on top of the beam.

Sometimes an elevation with storefront aluminum or curtain wall, using 1" insulated glass, may require sections or panels where the glass needs to be 1/4". When that criteria happens, the GDS should be prompted to add, or at least suggest to add the selected system's pocket reducer to accommodate that glass. Or perhaps the exterior storefront framing is also used at the interior and pocket reducer is needed. The pocket reducer should be added to the final parts list, reflected on the elevations, and be included in the shop drawings. I have attached a reference sheet for Arcadia AG451T and highlighted the pocket reducers on the right side of the 1st page.

The are too many report options in the Reports menu tree. Can this be cleaned up in the next update?
It gets confusing when trying to teach new users from V15 which reports to run. Currently there are multiple options for the same reports and very little ability to modify and cleanup said reports...

Example: One final parts report has material weights listed with no values and the other final parts report doesn't even have this listed.

Example: Multiple glass reports with same information with limited ability to cleanup the report.

- Is there any way to add Alternatives? For example, Storefront Hardware is always proposed as an Add, can all hardware be separated from the scope without having to price it aside of the program?
For example: in Emullion (is a program to cost estimate Hollow Metal and Hardware), you can add your “Areas” such as “Base Bid” and “Alternate 1”, when adding the elevation you simply mark it as “Alternate” and when calculating costs, it separates that specific elevation costs. Is there any way a feature like this can be added?
You can also add "Areas" for Levels, building numbers, and even per room numbers; and once again when creating a new elevation, it prompts the option to mark that elevation for an specific "Area" of our choice so that when pricing the job at the end, it separates each area's costs.
This feature would help A LOT, specially for jobs with several Alternatives or for bigger jobs for when GCs ask for a Per Building or Per Floor Breakdown; without having to generate diff

i.e.
Customer wants price differences by adding new or deleting old elevations. I can make a copy of a job and rename as an alternate and then go in and delete the elevations, but even then I find times I wish I could add back an elevation without having to reenter dimensions or make another copy of the job.

If there were a way to exclude the elevation (similar to part list exclusions), but be able to include them back at will, then that would be the fix I am requesting.

The "Glass order report" has the best information but it's not exportable to .csv or excel. The excel file export for glass has a million columns but no grid location hashtags.
We prefer to have 1 panel per line with the grid location hashtags. The problem is management wants 1 format from all PM's to approve so I would have to hand enter all the glass to the excel sheet. This was the "detail export" in v15 and I used it for everything.
Please make the order report exportable to .csv or excel and it will by a huge improvement in my opinion!
